The Growing Trend to Access Websites on Mobile Phones

Does your current website work on a mobile phone? With the increasing number of mobile phones on the market offering Internet at 3G speeds our team sat down and took a look at the some new devices that customers and clients are using to access the Internet.

A few days ago one of the members of our team at Creative was showing off their brand new spanking phone. We decided to look at number of websites on the mobile through the built in browser. One thing we noticed was the time it took a number of websites to download because of the size of a page. The time it took to download varied on the access point we used to connect to the Internet such as Wi Fi and 3G.

There are a number of phones on the market that offer GPRS connection to the Internet such as 3G services while some allow you to connect to the Internet through a wireless hotspot.

Creative Bubbles build websites to work on all major browsers and we understand that the way people view the Internet is changing. We looked at our own website through the built in web browser on the mobile and were pleased (though not surprised) that the website loaded fast and the layout changed to fit the small mobile screen without losing any of the site structure or making the site hard to use.

The reason being that all our sites here at Creative Bubbles are built according to the standards set by the W3C (XHTML and CSS complaint). We also take into consideration that there is growing trend and demand to access the Internet through a number of mediums including mobile phones, PSP’s etc.

So with the launch of new mobile devices such as the popular Nokia N95 and with Apple launching its iPhone sometime at the end of the year, it’s important to your business that your site is accessible through these devices?
